Jesus’ disciples were twelve ordinary men, chosen by God for one great calling. These were men from all different backgrounds and histories, but they all came together to fulfill one Divine purpose.
The interesting thing about the twelve men that Jesus chose to follow Him and learn from the Master Himself, was that none of these men were religious scholars or pompous men. These were all ordinary men from all walks of life. They all had different jobs ranging from Peter, James and John the fishermen, to Matthew a tax collector.
The men were so ordinary, that look at what the religious leaders said about them calling them ordinary men,
Acts 4:13 “Now as they observed the confidence of Peter and John and understood that they were uneducated and untrained men, they were amazed, and [began] to recognize them as having been with Jesus.”
But the thing that set them apart was not their religious training or background. No, it was the fact that was stated above, they had been with Jesus! They had learned from Him and walked with Him and grown to know and trust Him. Anyone who puts their trust in Jesus and spends time with Him will be a changed person too! Jesus has that kind of power!
So what set these ordinary men apart and enabled them to preach the gospel and do so many extraordinary things for God? They had been with Jesus! They spent time with Him and fellowshiped with Him and knew Him! That was the power that they had! That was exactly what the Pharisees and others saw when they looked at these ordinary men who had been changed by one extraordinary Man! God bless!

God can do extraordinary things with ordinary men.
