The Love of a Father (Matt. 7:11)

The love of a Father is a wonderful thing. God has chosen the relationship of a father and a son to represent His love for us. The father seeks to give everything to the son, and would even give up His own life for the son, which is exactly what Jesus Christ did on the cross for us. In this way God has shown His love toward us in His Son. Jesus Christ also went on to say that God’s love for us as His Children is even greater than anything we have known.

Matt. 7:7-11 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Or what man is there among you who, when his son asks for a loaf, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, he will not give him a snake, will he? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him!

God’s love for us is a perfect one, and one that we see in a true right relationship of father and a son, and this love that a father has for his son.  Even if we are imperfect, as the last verse says above, we are still able to reflect some of this love and truly understand His love through our very own children.

Truly the love of a father for a son is a wonderful thing and a beautiful representation of God’s own love for us.  Come to Him and let Him reveal that special love He has for you as one of His children in His Son Jesus Christ.  God bless.
