Where Does Fear Come From?

The Bible says that God has not given us a spirit of fear, (but of power, love, and a sound mind) (2 Tim. 1:7). Any kind of spirit of fear is from the adversary and is a direct attack against a child of God. Any place that we are not trusting God is an open door for the Adversary to enter our lives and introduce fear (rather than love & a sound mind).

How do we get rid of this fear?
We get rid of fear by trusting in God. The Psalmist says:

Psalm 34:4 “I sought the Lord, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.”

When we seek the Lord and put our trust in Him, the Adversary can not touch us, and we are delivered from all of the power of darkness, from all of our fears and doubts. When we are filled with the Spirit of God, we are also filled with faith!

Acts 11:24 “For he [Barnabas] was a good man, and full of the Holy Ghost and of faith: and much people was added unto the Lord.”

Acts 6:5 “And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost

When we trust in God, we are delivered from our fears! God is faithful to do it. God is as True and as Good as His Word says that He is! Just trust Him and put your faith in Him. He will take you to new heights, and you will truly soar on the wings of eagles, you will walk and not grow weary, you will run and not faint. For the Lord shall be your strength and hope, and in Him we shall put our trust (Isa. 40:31). Blessed and true is His name! God bless.

I do agree with the the majority of what you are saying but your statement “Any kind of spirit of fear is from the adversary and is a direct attack against a child of God” is a lie. “‘Do not lay a hand on the boy,’ he said. ‘Do not do anything to him. Now I know that you fear God, because you have not withheld from me your son, your only son.’” (Genesis 22:12). “For great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; he is to be feared above all gods.” (1 Chronicles 16:25). Fear is righteous. “In the land of Uz there lived a man whose name was Job. This man was blameless and upright; he feared God and shunned evil.” (Job 1:1) We must maintain a fear of God within the understanding of his love for us.

Hey Drew, I see what you are saying I agree with what you say. The fear that I am speaking of is a fear that is apart or outside of God, a fear that comes from the Adversary. You are right, the Bible says that the Messiah delights in the fear of the Lord (Isaiah 11:3).

    God bless.

  5. Correct! Trust covers all fear! When we are overflowing with faith, there shall be no room for fear or insecurity or whatsoever.

Hello I was just reading all the comments and what I got was that you have to understand that their are different kinds of fear and the fear that admin was talking about when he said the spirit of fear comes from the adversary is being afraid not the kind that when you reverent God. I believe that when you totally serender and trust God with your whole heart then you want have room for fear because God has not given us a spirit of fear but of love and a sound mind. Being afraid (fear) is contrary to his word. Amen!
