When Joshua led the Children of Israel into the Promised Land some 3000 years ago, he did it by faith. Joshua believed what God spoke to him, and then he acted on this faith.
Joshua 1:1-5 "Now it came about after the death of Moses the servant of the LORD, that the LORD spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses' servant, saying, Moses My servant is dead; now therefore arise, cross this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them, to the sons of Israel.
Every place on which the sole of your foot treads, I have given it to you, just as I spoke to Moses. From the wilderness and this Lebanon, even as far as the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and as far as the Great Sea toward the setting of the sun will be your territory. No man will be able to stand before you all the days of your life. Just as I have been with Moses, I will be with you; I will not fail you or forsake you."
The Lord made a promise to Joshua, and Joshua believed what God said to him. He believed that God was powerful enough to do what He said that He would do for the Children of Israel. Joshua had been at the Red Sea. He had seen the miraculous wonders of God and had seen God provide for the children of Israel for over forty years in the wilderness. Joshua knew who God was and that He was faithful and true to His Word. Joshua had no reason to doubt what God said and promised.
Just as I have been with Moses, I will be with you; I will not fail you or forsake you
Just as God was with Moses, He was with Joshua. As believers in Him, the Lord Jesus is with us even to this day. We don't have to do anything but believe His promises and what He has and will do for us. Just as He told Moses and Joshua, He also shall never leave nor forsake us.
Heb. 13:5 "I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee."
The Lord Jesus Christ is our Promised Land, and when can enter into His blessed rest as we trust in Him and His finished work on the cross. All we must do is to believe. To know Him and to have faith in what He has promised He will do. He has given us the Spirit that we may not be comfortless (John 14:18). Let us not hold the same heart of unbelief that prevented the Children of Israel from entering into the Promised Land the first time (Hebrews 3:9). Let us believe God and all the promises that He has made to us. For He shall perform them.
Joshua 11:23 "So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that the LORD had spoken to Moses"
Joshua took the land by the promise God had given. God is true to His Word and He stands upon His Word. He is the true and faithful one. Man can not always be trusted, but God can. He is true always. He only speaks truth, and we can put our trust and confidence in His Word. That which He speaks He shall perform.
Hebrews 4:6 "And they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief"
Unbelief will always keep us from entering into all that God has planned for us, His blessed Promised Land and day of rest which He has given us in His Son. We only need to believe. Let God do the rest. Let Him give the rest. We shall enter the promise of His love.
John 14:6 "For I [Jesus] am the Truth, the Way, and the Life. No one can come unto the Father, except through me."
