Forgiveness is such a wonderful thing and holds so many blessings for us. When we forgive others, we are not saying that what they did was acceptable, but rather we are saying that we love that person enough that we will not hold it against them. Remember, perfect love keeps no record of wrongs! (1 Cor. 13:5)
If anybody had a right not to forgive it was Jesus. Yet He still did, even on the cross in His most agonizing suffering, He still had the love and the strength to forgive those who had done Him evil (Luke 23:34). This is the perfect love of God in Jesus Christ, and it is the forgiveness and the love that we experience everyday as Children of our Father in Heaven. Let this love permeate to others and forgive, just as have been forgiven. (Col. 3:13) With the forgiveness of God, the world would be a much better place!
Matthew 18:21-22 “Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?”
Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.[this in the Hebrew signifies a perfect forgiveness]“
Remember, we forgive because we have been forgiven (Col. 3:13)! God Bless!
