Hebrews 12:1 "Let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us"
We will come to find as we walk with Him, that it is the weight of sin that is constantly weighing us down. It is holding us back, it is wearying our souls, it does so easily entangle us in every which way.
We must cry out to Him for deliverance. We are faced with an Egyptian army and nowhere to go. We must cry out to Him and allow Him to part the sea in our lives. Know this, that the veil has been torn (Matt. 27:51). There is nothing to no longer separate us from a Holy and Just God except our inability to call upon Him.
Psalm 146:18 "The LORD is near to all who call upon Him"
Brethren, if our hearts condemn us not, we have confidence before Him (1 John 3:21). If we know that Jesus has bore our sin, we no longer need to feel ashamed.
2 Corinthians 5:21 "He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him."
We only need to lift up our heads and sing praise unto the One who has redeemed us!
Psalm 116:13 "I shall lift up the cup of salvation And call upon the name of the LORD."
Psalm 105:1 "Oh give thanks to the LORD, call upon His name"
We shall sing a song of salvation for what He has done. For the weight He has crushed. For the sin He has bore. The cross He has endured. Despising the shame, yet seeing the glory (Hebrews 12:2). That we might be crowned with glory and honor (Romans 8:17). The weight of sin broken. The works of the devil destroyed.
Colossians 2:15 "When He had disarmed the rulers and authorities, He made a public display of them, having triumphed over them through the cross".
Nothing can hold us back any longer. We need only to look to Him. To His completed work. We shall glory in the cross (Galatians 6:14). It it finished (John 19:30). There is no more left for us to do, except to enter into His blessed rest (Hebrews 4:9).
Matthew 11:28 "Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest."
The Lord speaks to us tonight, He comforts us. He conforms us into His image. He lets us know that it will be all right. There is a blessed rest for the Children of God, a rest in Him.
Genesis 5:29 "This one will give us rest from our work and from the toil of our hands"
Matthew 11:29 "And ye shall find rest for your souls."
Brethren, let us thank God that the struggle is over and the victory won. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen!
