The Breakdown of the Family

It seems that as we get closer to what the Bible refers to as the End Times (although we don’t know when this will be), it seems that we are beginning to see more and more of a destruction of the home life and the structure of the family in general.

This almost sounds like a demonic attack, but before I go finger pointing and name calling, I would like to say that ever since the beginning of mankind, it’s been recorded that the Adversary always seems to attack the family structure. The very first incidence I can think of is Cain and Abel, brother against brother, with one killing the other. Cain was in the wrong with God, and this led him to attack and “lash out” on his very own brother with the remark, “Am I my brother’s keeper?”.

This seems to be the tone that rings out in society now a days on the whole. “Am I my brother’s keeper?” Well, Jesus said it like this. We are to love not only our brother, but our neighbor, just as we do ourselves. This is a far cry from, “Am I my brother’s keeper?”

So what is happening to the family? Why are we seeing such a strong breakdown of the family structure and the relationships that should be forming the heart of this country, and the world? Is this a demonic attack? Has the devil personally targeted the family life? Does he realize that there is great power in the family? For it is said that a family that prays together, surely will stay together. But what is accounting for the dramatic increase in divorce rates, teen pregnancies, broken marriages and broken homes?

Surely God places a strong emphasis on family and their importance in our lives. All throughout the Bible there are examples of the importance of the family and the importance that God places on an individual to maintain the integrity of his or her family. Heck, one of the greatest tasks given in history was when God called a man named Joseph, and his wife Mary to raise His Own Son. That must have been a great task!

So what has happened to the family? Is it that as we drift further and further apart from God that we lose the very values that He stands for? Do we begin to lose the bonds and the ties that only He is able to supply as we lose touch with Him? I believe so, and I believe that this could account for the trend that we are beginning to see in society. We see Muslims degrading women and lowering their standards. We see no honor and respect for the ones who raise our very children and provide support in the home. (By the way, one of the greatest tasks in the Bible was given to a woman, and that was to carry the Lord Jesus, to give birth and to raise Him, with the help of God of course).

So what can be done? I believe that as we drift further and further away from God, this is the inevitable. The family is the core of God, and as we lose that, we lose Him and vice versa. It’s the destruction of the home, and it’s evil. Demonic in nature. Call it what you want, but we must stand up and raise our children right. What must give them what they need, and not what we necessarily desire. Look around and you will see all the children who are neglected. It seems that they have all these things. PlayStation’s and T.V.’s etc., etc., but they still seem so lost, so neglected, so confused. We have to show them that somebody cares.

We need to stand for God and stand for the family. It’s the future of our nation, our society, the world as a whole. The family is what matters the most, and I can not stress that enough. It is the foundation of life. Without it there almost seems to be no reason for living. This is serious but true. Our family is what matters. It is of such importance in the eyes of our loving God, and He can not stand to see the destruction of something that is so whole and good and pure and good for us all.

Let us stick to the family and be strong as one, for this is the core and the essence of all that God is and desires for us as His children. God bless!
