(4.00)What’s great to hear always is the Word of the Lord. That’s the Word that will pick you up when you are feeling depressed, will get you going and put you right where you need to be. I understand now how people could come to Jesus so often just to hear the Word of the Lord being spoken.
Matthew 7:28-29 NIV 28 When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed at his teaching, 29 because he taught as one who had authority, and not as their teachers of the law.
Here is a great verse from Isaiah, chapter 55 about coming to receive freely of the Lord’s Word.
Isaiah 55:1 KJV Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.
You see, you don’t need money or anything else to hear this Word. Just come freely with an open heart to receive it.
Isaiah 55:2 KJV Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.
Verse two is saying don’t spend your money on pointless things, things that will rot and perish, come and get that which is good. And for anyone who doesn’t think this verse is speaking on the Word of the Lord, listen to the next verse in the passage:
Isaiah 55:3 KJV Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.
So come unto the Lord, just as they came unto Jesus and hear this Word of the Lord and let your soul be satisfied and your heart filled with all the goodness God wants to give.
