What were these men saying in other tongues? They were giving glory to God, as the Holy Spirit gave them utterance.

Acts 2:11 Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.

We see here that they were giving glory to God, speaking His wonderful works, much like a Psalm or Hymn in the Old Testament. And who was giving the inspiration? It was the Spirit of God, not these men, but the Spirit of God that had come to dwell in them and transform them. This Spirit gave them the utterance on this day of Pentecost to give glory unto God, even in a language in which they had never heard.

1 Corinthians 14:15a “I will pray with the spirit and I will pray with the mind also.”
1 Corinthians 14:16a “Otherwise if you bless in the spirit only”

Here we see the Holy Spirit makes prayer of intercession (1 Cor. 14:15) and also thanksgiving, that is unto God (1 Cor. 14:16). Let us glorify Him in many tongues. Amen.
